Public Inquiry Lawyer

Locum Contract - Full time

£220 per day

London, Hybrid-Working

Up to 12 Public Inquiry Lawyers are required to join this Central Government team to provide high quality and cost effective Public Law and Inquiry services. My client is looking for an enthusiastic individual who is an experienced Public Law Lawyer, ideally who has had exposure to a Public Inquiry, to join their Government team on a 2 year contract.

As a Public Inquiry Lawyer, you will support the Inquiry and would be responsible for day-to-day management of a defined work stream, supporting a Senior Lawyer. This may include task management responsibility for paralegals and junior counsel.

Key Responsibilities of the Public Inquiry Lawyer

  • Handle complex, multi-disciplinary, professional, multi-strand legal or investigative environments; manage and/or contribute to the formulation of investigative practices or legal policies;
  • Handle complex, large-scale projects, including involvement in delivery of large scale disclosure/eDisclosure/document production/information management exercises;
  • Lead, motivate, develop and inspire to encourage a cohesive and professional working environment with a view to a common objective;
  • Give clear and detailed instructions to witnesses in order to ensure delivery of high quality evidence,
  • Manage and co-ordinate hearings;
  • Facilitate excellent stakeholder engagement, internal and external, including an ability to communicate confidently and sensitively with those who may be unfamiliar with legal processes.

Required Skills and experience of the Public Law Inquiry Lawyer

  • Candidates must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister (or equivalent).
  • Candidates must have resided in the UK for 10 years in order to undergo SC Clearence
  • Candidates must have a clear understanding of Public Law and/or Litigation
  • Candidates will benefit from a local/central Government background
  • Candidates will benefit from a Public Inquiry background
