Sellick partnership are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a large social housing organisation based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Quantity Surveyor will be accountable for delivering an accurate and first-class service to the Principal Quantity Surveyor, Property Services, and the Directorate. Giving guidance, support, and direction as appropriate.

Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Delivering an accurate, high standard and professional service which encompasses value for money and is customer focussed
  • Providing an effective service to the Quantity Surveying team to achieve targets and KPIs
  • Continually developing the Quantity Surveying service provision in response to customer needs, policy, and legislation
  • Promoting a positive culture of continuous improvement that delivers business excellence, needs, aims and objectives
  • Provide an accurate and professional service at all times and competently deliver a full range of pre and post contract Quantity Surveying, Contract Administrator and contract management duties, across a wide variety of projects and to required deadlines
  • Ensure schemes are managed and administered in accordance with their contract terms and conditions and that contractors and suppliers deliver to the correct quality, within timescale and to budget
  • Prepare and issue Contract Documents for signature. Manage various standard forms of contract and negotiate and agree any disputes that arise. Provide contract support where needed
  • Manage contracts across the Karbon stock including properties in the Byker Wall estate. Provide solutions that meet the complexities associated with the estate's Grade II listed status and planning restrictions
  • Ensure a clear focus on cost and value for money and prepare and issue regular cost and vfm reports
  • Provide accurate final out turn cost data and up to date cash flow forecasts. Support the Principal Quantity Surveyor in delivering contracts in a way that ensures performance and outputs are achieved
  • Responsible for undertaking product / cost benefits, life cycle and lean reviews and options appraisals.
  • Provide accurate and timely VAT shelter and VAT capitalisation data to finance and component replacement information to asset management

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • A strong record of demonstrable achievement, at a senior level within a social housing organisation
  • Relevant and recognised professional qualification in the field of Quantity Surveying services and evidence of continuing professional development
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Quantity Surveying, contract administrator and contract management duties
