Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit an Interim Qualified technical 'hands on' Financial Accountant for the position of 'Senior IFRS Financial Accountant' This role will take a technical lead in the conversion of UK Gaap to IFRS accounting. This role will involve close liaison with the CFO / FC but will be largely autonomous and you must work under your own initiative according to a strict timetable for audit purposes. The role is time pressurised with deadlines and is expected to last c6 months with other ad-hoc technical / mentoring duties to the wider department to leave a legacy. The organisation is a rapidly growing Financial Services business and is ideally looking to get this interim expertise recruited ASAP so it will be advantageous for candidates on short notice periods.
Reporting to the CFO and FC, you will provide high level technical advice relating to IFRS conversion commercial financial support, challenge and commercial advice on new site and store acquisitions and re-developments. You will provide robust investment appraisal techniques to ensure the Retail organisation achieves its strategic objectives for growth, expansion and disposal of non-profitable sites. You will oversee and review the financial analysis and review of site performance, providing related commentary and presentation of findings to senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will also have managed / directed a small specialist team of qualified accountants who provide the MI, analysis and performance forecasting and investment appraisal.
The key accountabilities will include:-
- To lead year end technical financial / statutory accounting and reporting under IFRS standards, hands on approach required.
- Building models and introducing related models relevant to business under new standards.
- Manage conversion programme from UK Gaap to IFRS accounting.
- Work with external auditors and on-site consultancy to deliver technical advice and accounts on ad-hoc basis.
- Ad-hoc financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Re-build models as and when to reflect new reporting standards.
The successful applicant will be a fully qualified accountant with a strong academic record together with ideally an Audit background. You will have the technical knowledge especially in the areas if IFRS 2,9,15 and 16, ideally from a complex larger business who have been through an IFRS conversion or have reported under IFRS accounting standards. You will be a 'hands-on do-er' not a Manager and be happy to build models, write policies and communicate and technically convert the whole function to working under IFRS organisation. Credit risk exposure would be very useful albeit not essential.
Senior stakeholder communication skills together with the ability to write succinct and accurate reports, models and technical ability under strict deadlines are critical success factors.
