Senior Legal Counsel

  • As a Senior Legal Counsel, do you lead from the front, role modelling good behaviours and operating effectively at the strategic, tactical and operational levels?
  • Are you proactive, finding dynamic pragmatic solutions early on to mitigate legal risk?
  • Do you have the skills and tenacity to work on high-profile domestic and overseas projects, transactions and other activities?
  • Can you influence and partner with senior stakeholders, creating strong working relationships to enable you to deliver?

If this describes you to a tee, then this rare opportunity with Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) for a Senior Legal Counsel vacancy could be the perfect next step for you.

NTS is a world leader in global nuclear transportation and consultancy and is an integral part of the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Group. In this exciting Senior Legal Counsel role you will be at the forefront of this; a key player in the organisation working closely with the Divisional GC/Deputy GC to deliver legal excellence. You will work with NTS and across the wider NDA Group, collaborating and sharing best practice as appropriate.

As Senior Legal Counsel in our high performing legal team, you will have the opportunity to manage an interesting and varied caseload. If you enjoy your work, are willing to roll your sleeves up, bring a 'can do' attitude and don't take yourself too seriously then we are keen to speak to you! NTS are truly invested in their people and offer continuous opportunities for growth and development across the organisation.

Every working day will be different to the next, this is a dynamic role with varied and ever evolving tasks and responsibilities. In addition to some travel throughout the UK, there will also be the opportunity to travel overseas to the USA, Europe and Japan to meet with key clients and stakeholders.

Your ideas and input will be heard and welcomed; everybody has a voice here.

This role offers hybrid working with office attendance at one of our offices in the North West region. Part time working on a job share basis may also be considered for the right candidate.

A qualified Lawyer, eligible to practice as a solicitor or barrister in England/Wales, with interesting work stories and substantial post qualification experience, you will confidently play a key role in the legal team and effectively partner with our stakeholders, encouraging them to work closely with the legal team and ensuring they receive appropriate and timely advice. You should have significant experience in Commercial and (ideally) Public Procurement Law (Shipping/Rail experience would also be beneficial). You must be able to operate and influence at senior management level, advising on a wide range of legal issues in high pressure environments to tight deadlines. If you can demonstrate that you are energetic, adaptable, resilient and solutions focused, with the ability to work with integrity independently and within cross functional teams, we want to hear from you.

We encourage interested applicants to apply immediately to be considered for short listing. Alternatively should you require further information or wish to discuss your suitability before applying for the Senior Legal Counsel position please contact Kiran Purewal in our Manchester office for a confidential discussion.
