Senior Payrol lofficer

Sellick Partnership currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our Public Sector client in Staffordshire. You will be responsible for the effective production of the group's payroll, including the management, training and development of the Payroll Officers and provide technical support to the Payroll Manager to meet the demands of the service. This role will be based in Stafford. Initially, you will need to attend the office for training but the role will be a mixture of working from home and at the office as and when needed.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Payroll Officer:

  • Support the payroll officers in the accurate delivery of all payroll's
  • Responsible for ensuring all employee-related expenses claims are accurately coded and authorised To ensure the payroll is administered within the statutory and regulatory requirements for payroll production
  • To be responsible for ensuring third party payments are raised
  • To support the payroll officers in the preparation of all year-end returns at the end of each fiscal year in a timely and accurate manner
  • Support the payroll officers and be responsible for the production of the Group's P11d's and associated administration
  • To support the payroll officers and payroll manager during the audit of payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll and pension legislation (including HMRC), reporting to Directors and Board as required

Senior Payroll Officer Person Specification:

  • Qualified (or working towards with relevant experience) CIPP
  • Experience of working in a Payroll team and processing payrolls from start to finish
  • Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise
  • Strong belief in excellent internal and external customer service
  • Knowledge and experience of administering statutory legislation

Additional Information for the Senior Payroll Officer:

Option 1: 6 month fixed term contract

  • A competitive salary of £30,450 per annum (Pro rata)
  • The option to join our contributory pension scheme
  • 25 days' holiday, increasing with each year of service + bank holidays (Pro rata)

Option 2: 6 month on agency (hourly/daily rate)

  • £15.83 plus £1.91 Holiday pay
