Sellick Partnership are recruiting on behalf of a not for profit client, based in South Manchester, for a Senior Payroll Officer. You will support the provision of a high quality, accurate and effective payroll and pension's service, working in partnership with an external payroll provider. The main objectives of the role are to ensure all processing, administration and management of the monthly payroll is completed, ensuring that all deductions are made correctly and within the required deadlines. You will ensure that all pensions' administration is completed both promptly and accurately.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Officer:

  • Supporting HR and other colleagues with guidance in payroll administration and payroll processing related matters ensuring that all processes, manual and automated run smoothly, resulting in all staff being paid accurately and on time
  • Developing procedures to improve operational efficiency in partnership with the wider HR and finance functions, and to the external payroll provider
  • Liaison with external payroll service provider to ensure that all payroll matters, including timesheet claims payment and absence payments
  • Responding to telephone and written queries from payroll in relation to all payroll and pension related enquiries
  • Payroll reconciliation, analysis and preparation of reports for stakeholders

Required skills and experience of the Senior Payroll Officer:

  • Ability to work as part of a team in the provision of a professional payroll service
  • Ability to discuss payroll and pension matters clearly and concisely with colleagues
  • High standard of written and oral English
  • Highly numerate with a level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of HMRC legislation and payroll duties
  • Knowledge of statutory entitlements and payments
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Team player with a "can do" attitude
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and take responsibility for workloads to ensure deadlines are met
