We are delighted to be recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for a Specialist Planning/Regeneration Lawyer to join a highly reputable Council based in the Home Counties on a permanent basis.
This is a newly created position for a specialist Planning Lawyer which will provide specialist legal advice within the Environment Law team. The Planning Lawyer will take responsibility to provide legal advice on complex Planning and Highways matters relating to significant and large residential and other development regeneration projects scaling multi million pound schemes. The Specialist lawyer will also be the lead legal adviser alongside the Principal Lawyer within these regeneration projects which include infrastructure, roads, housing development schemes and town centre regeneration.
The Specialist Planning/Regeneration lawyer is required to achieve a significant level of income for the council through undertaking work for external bodies to include other local authorities in the region and supporting other team members to do likewise, therefore experience of business development within a legal capacity is welcomed. Our client is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, creative and holds great client care skills to build relationships with other local authorities.
Our client is looking for a Specialist Planning/Regeneration Lawyer from either Local Authority or Private Practice background but must have developments, regeneration and planning knowledge/experience and ideally Compulsory purchase order experience.
This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your skills and be able to develop business skills which is key for local government within a specialised role for the organisation which is newly created.
Duties for the Specialist Planning/Regeneration Lawyer include:
- Providing Specialist legal advice on complex Planning and highway matters
- Providing legal support to the project management team regarding Regenerations and developments
- Formulating Proposals/bids for and securing instructions to undertake legal work for local authorities
- Business Development/Networking with other local authorities and other client organisations

The council are operating remotely in the interim with a degree of remote working as restrictions lift but is keen for the successful candidate to be available for client meetings as they see fit.
