Sellick partnership are currently assisting in the recruitment of a Support Worker for a large social housing organisation based in North Shields.

The role of the Support Worker is to act as a positive member of the Supported Housing team, collaborating with other colleagues across departments to support people with mental health issues in their homes and in the community, promoting and maintaining independence for service users.

Responsibilities of the Support Worker include:

  • Provide tailored support to each service user according to their individual needs and their best interest at all times
  • Encourage and support to maintain a clean, healthy and homely environment conducive to good mental health stability
  • Encourage and promote good physical and mental health and offer additional support if possible when service users are experiencing mental health crisis
  • Report and discuss with Team Leader incidents or problems that affect the safety or personal well-being of service users including incidents of safeguarding
  • Promote tenancy sustainability by encouraging and supporting service users to manage their tenancy in line with relevant policy and procedures and support plans where relevant
  • Liaise with relevant external agencies and internal departments on behalf of a service user where consent has been given
  • Encourage service users to access other services in the communities

Essential criteria of the Support Worker includes:

  • A strong record of demonstrable achievement in the delivery of Supported Housing
  • Working knowledge of Supported Housing services
  • Full Enhanced DBS
  • Full UK Drivers licence
