Technical Officer

Technical Officer

Temporary Contract - 6-12 months

Location - South Derbyshire

Sellick Partnership are working alongside a Housing association to help recruit for a Technical Officer to support their growing team in the South Derbyshire region, on a temporary basis.

Job Summary

  • To carry out assessments for Disabled Facilities Grants and compile the associated technical specifications and drawings to enable the delivery of the grant
  • To liaise with Adult Social Care and other partner agencies to ensure the approved adaptations are within the scope of the legislation and the Council's current policy
  • To provide technical advice on the adaptation of homes across all tenures and property types
  • To provide additional administration support to the "Housing Adaptations Officer" as and when required to do so and during periods of leave

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To receive briefing from the Architectural Projects Officer in conjunction with the Strategic Housing Manager
  • To undertake building surveys, prepare sketch plans, schedules and specifications for disabled adaptations
  • To supervise on site works including the undertaking of final inspections and approving works for payment
  • Providing general technical support and undertaking other duties commensurate to the role
  • To utilise CAD software to produce detailed precision drawings and technical illustrations
  • To attend and participate in meetings as and when required
  • To ensure that customer focus is the central to service delivery
  • To ensure adherence to the Council's Health & Safety Policy
  • To support, promote and comply with the Council's Equal Opportunities and Fairness Scheme when undertaking the duties of the post
  • To comply with the Council's Employee Code of Conduct

Specific Duties

  • Carry out initial survey and scheme feasibility with disabled client and Occupational Therapist to determine scope of eligible works
  • Produce sketch plans and written schedules of work
  • Produce drawings and detailed schedule of works / specifications
  • Maintain and amend /upgrade specifications if required
  • Supervise the works in progress when required
  • Evaluate the quality of the works completed and ensure project sign off
  • Completion of associated administration including updating of computerised records in conjunction with the Housing Adaptations Officer
  • Attendance at internal and external meetings with contractors, other council departments and external partner agencies
