Sweaty socks and football jerseys aside, the 2014 Sellick Partnership charity 5-a-side football tournament was a great success and our biggest and best tournament yet.

The event, in partnership with WebhelpUK, and supported by Marketing Derby took place on Friday 24th October at the Pride Park Powerleague in Derby.

As the biggest tournament to date, having grown from eight teams in 2010, the afternoon was a real success  helping to raise more than £1800 for the Me & Dee charity, set up by the Maria Hanson Foundation - the charity provides low cost holidays for when time is short and precious, allowing families to experience happy moments and create lasting memories.

The winning cup champions were Sherwood Forest Hospital, with Accrofab as worthy runners up. Flint Bishop won the plate tournament, with Sellick Partnership following closely in second place.

Winning Sherwood Forest Hospital team captain commented on the day, "It was a fantastic event, superbly organised for such a worthwhile cause.  It was a joy for the team and the organisation to take part, contribute and it's such a proud achievement in winning the event.    We are already planning to come back in October to defend our trophy.”

As always the event was a fantastic afternoon for all those involved - I was delighted with the amount of teams that participated and supported the tournament, with all proceeds going to a charity that provides wonderful experiences for many families in the local area.

The commitment and competitive nature of all teams ensured for an exciting afternoon - which has certainly set the standard for 2015. Thank you to everyone that took part, and the Powerleague for their assistance in coordinating the event.

Our total of £1800 will go towards the rental of two accessible beach huts which allow families with mobility needs and high dependency needs to be able to be present on the beach front with their families and loved ones at this time of making lasting precious memories together, along with buying two comfortable reclining chairs for the person with the life threatening or terminal condition.

Following the event Maria Hanson, a 2014 Pride of Britain winner, offered her "heartfelt thanks to Sellick Partnership and a further thank you to the 25 companies who entered to make the day so successful in raising £1800 for the Maria Hanson Foundation, which will fund many holidays by the sea in Mablethorpe, for making lasting special memories when time is short and precious.”

We are proud to hold this tournament year after year, which proves consistently popular amongst local businesses that are willing to rise to the challenge and show their support for our local charities.
