Age and Optimism

I turned the unwelcome 30 a few months ago - something that I had been dreading since I turned 29!

In the 9 to 12 months before the big 3-0, I was feeling reflective about life so far; all the positives and negatives, and the things that I want to achieve in the next 30 years.

It was at this point as I decided that it was time to make some changes and 'get my head down' for my future.

I took on a part-time course at college and threw myself into finding a new job. 12 months down the line and I have finished my college course and am about to start another one. I have now also been with Sellick Partnership for 9 months, where I feel I have fitted in to an established team.

My role has become more targeted and exciting, specifically with a focus on our commercial market, where I can grow and develop in my role - I have a clear development plan now. It showed me that with the right mind set, attitude and the desire to achieve, anything is possible!

As much as I wasn't looking forward to turning 30, it provided me with a new personal prospective and a renewed ambition to achieve.

I learnt how important it is to have a personal goal. Whenever I was asked before where I saw myself in 5 or 10 years time I could never answer the question, as I never had an answer. Now I can say with confidence that I see myself achieving my goals and consistently setting new ones to improve not only my skills and capabilities but my personal qualities too.

Have you thought about where you see yourself in the next 5-10 years? What are your personal or professional goals? If you have and you are looking for your next opportunity, contact me on 01332 542580 for a confidential discussion about your next steps.
