Tonight we begin the celebrations of the organisations who have been short-listed in the inaugural Derby Telegraph Business Awards - or #DTBA as it's becoming widely known!

Celebrations are kicking off with the sponsors and finalists champagne and canapé reception this evening at the grand Cathedral Quarter Hotel in Derby.

Sellick Partnership are extremely proud to be involved in the awards, and in playing an important role to acknowledge the remarkable work that takes place across our city.

As you can imagine, shortlisting the applications for the Not for Profit Organisation award was extremely difficult. Every application meant something, and it was a proud moment to see so many organisations operating in the Derby area and really making a difference in their community.

From a personal perspective, we frequently enter awards, therefore as a business we appreciate the time and significant effort that goes into collating the information and ensuring that it clearly represents you as an organisation, as well as meeting the criteria of the application.

When judging the awards we looked a number of criteria including financial performance, engagement with stakeholders, creativity, innovation and presence in the community.

With the applications that we received it was really close - the commitment, creativity and tenacity of the individuals involved is truly inspiring!

In no particular order, below are brief descriptions about the final shortlist in the Not for Profit Organisation award:

Derventio Housing Trust
Derventio Housing Trust support people who are homeless and vulnerable, committed to doing all they can to end the cycle of homelessness many individuals find themselves in. With a team of more than 50 people, they work in a wide range of areas, including learning activities, fundraising and communications.

Ripplez Community Interest Company (CIC)
Ripplez CIC is an NHS enterprise provider of the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) programme to vulnerable young parents in the Derby area. Established in 2011, Ripplez CIC aims to support young parents so they can provide a nurturing and stable environment for both their babies, and their own futures.

Established in 2006 by Maria Hanson after dreaming of setting up her own charity with her cousin Delia to provide treats and special moments for those whose time is precious, me&dee is creating over 200 of these memories each year. These treats include everything from a day out in London to comfort packs, which are delivered to local hospitals.

We wish everyone who has been shortlisted the very best of luck and hope that the awards generate the reward and recognition deserved by all involved. We look forward to hearing the winners been announced on the 18th June awards evening hosted at the Roundhouse, Derby.

Good luck!
