Fundraising at work

With Sport Relief just around the corner, fundraising is at a peak! Securing sponsorship through work is a great way to meet your financial targets, but equally important is the support and encouragement from your colleagues.

At Sellick Partnership, several of our teams are busy fundraising for different charities at the moment; Abigail Day from our Liverpool office will be participating in the London Marathon for Barnado's next month and I will be completing a 5K swimathon for Sport Relief tomorrow.

Here at Sellick Partnership we are committed to supporting our chosen charities - St Ann's Hospice, The Lord's Taverners and Macmillan Cancer Support. As an organisation, Sellick Partnership is incredibly proud of the money raised for these worthwhile causes, but an additional bonus is the way we come together to organise and support these activities.

Most organisations have a charity of the year, so why not start planning your next big fundraising drive?

There are loads of ways to raise money and be sociable! Why not organise a pub quiz, karaoke evening or club night for your colleagues and friends? Remember part-time workers and those with childcare commitments and organise lunchtime activities like a games day or treasure hunt. A bake sale is always a popular activity, but why not organise a 'Great British Bake Off' style competition, or arrange a rota for someone to bake a cake each week - who doesn't want a slice of cake on a Monday morning?

Macmillan Cancer Support, one of Sellick Partnership's charities, have a number of events each year that you could get involved with:

• Sporting events - running, biking, walking, golfing, swimming - whatever your sport there's a fundraising event for you!
• The Macmillan coffee morning on 26 September 2014 is the 'world's biggest coffee morning' and Macmillian's biggest event. Suitable for bakers and those who enjoy eating cake!
• Go sober for October - fancy a hangover free month? You and your colleagues can commit to a dry October and raise sponsorship and awareness for a great cause.

Visit www.macmillan.org.uk for details of events and information packs.

Furthermore, if you're based in Manchester with a passion for cricket, Sellick Partnership organise a cricket tournament for professional businesses in Manchester each year. The league takes place from May-July and has attracted more than 20 teams each year, raising £40,000 for the Lord's Taverners and St Ann's Hospice. Why not think about entering a team in 2014?

As you've seen, there are numerous ways to raise money at work - just be creative and have fun!
