A New Year's resolution...

We all make New Year's resolutions that we don't stick to, let's make one that we can fulfil! If you have been thinking about taking a leap into the locum sector, how about making 2015 the year you do it? Follow these great steps to help you make the leap:
  1. Revise your CV: Make sure that it's up to date, relevant and tailored to the sort of job that you are looking for. Make sure that you are outlining your day to day duties, and specifically for the legal profession, it is useful to break down your caseload, what sort of cases you are dealing with, your advocacy experience etc
  2. Up to date contact details: you would be amazed at the amount of CVs and applications I look at that do not have a telephone number on - make sure it is as easy to reach you as possible...
  3. Punchy personal statement: What you have done in the past, what do you want to do next, and the skills that bridge the two. Keep this simple and specific.
  4. Be proactive! Sellick Partnership advertise across a number of job boards including Totally Legal, Law Society Gazette, Local Government Lawyer to name but a few, but if you want to know about our new roles first set yourself up for job alerts straight to your inbox, or visit our website.
  5. Make sure you have a social media presence! As recruiters, we often search for new candidates on LinkedIn, and it is essential to have a profile. This means that you really widen the opportunities made available to you, and is something I would strongly advise whether looking for a new role or not! If you would like help setting up your profile, speak to me about receiving a copy of our LinkedIn guide.
If you are thinking of making a move into the locum world, or just want some advice, please do not hesitate to get in touch or connect with me on LinkedIn.
