Last year marked the first decade Sellick Partnership has been in legal market, specialising in public sector, locum recruitment. Our reputation and relationships during this time has built substantially with both clients and candidates. We currently sit at the milestone of over 300 temporary contractors working within the public sector alone.

Successfully recruiting into the public sector requires a good understanding of the demands and challenges our clients face on a daily basis. Juggling political and financial expectations whilst providing a good service to their own clients. The economic changes over the last 10 years, including the recession has meant local government has had to adapt the way in which it conducts business - becoming more stream lined and commercial. These changes have led to an increased demand for forward thinking legal professionals on both a locum and permanent basis within a number of key areas in local government, and specifically those at a more senior level that can offer experience alongside strong leadership skills.

With these increased demands we have invested in growing our presence at the more senior end of the market, with the introduction of an Executive Search arm specialising in both interim and permanent appointments within this area. Restructures, redundancies and shared service ventures have led to a rise in the demand for Interim Heads of Service and Governance, as well as for experienced interims to provide expertise and assistance in business development projects including ABS, change management, budget reviews and the revision of council constitutions.

As a reflection of this we are now working with a number of experienced local government professionals many of whom are former clients wishing to continue their careers as professional contractors. They share the same motivation - to take on challenging and interesting appointments where they are able to demonstrate a high level of client care and excel in the service they provide.

In addition, we are able to provide an Executive Search service for permanent appointments. Working with clients nationally and speaking with them frequently, we are best placed to assist our clients with their own personal career development, and assist them with their next career move at the senior end of the market.

Having joined the legal division shortly after its inception, I have gained significant experience of recruiting into the public sector and in particular local government. I am excited to dedicate my time to this growing market and look forward to continuing to build on the services we provide to clients and candidates.
