SHLA Annual Conference

The Social Housing Law Association (SHLA) was formed in 2005 by a group of housing professionals who saw the need for a forum where ideas and information could be exchanged in relation to legal matters within the arena. It is the first of its kind in relation to legal professionals working within the housing law arena, and has been welcomed by many organisations.

Since its creation SHLA has gone from strength to strength; growing in membership numbers and attracting an increasing number of organisations and individuals to its events. Its members are local authorities, housing associations, housing and policy professionals and solicitors and barristers who regularly represent social landlords.

The association provides a platform for such professionals to discuss relevant topics and also plans a number of successful events each year. The events are well attended and are open to both SHLA members and non-members. The events are a great opportunity for like minded professionals to exchange ideas and discuss areas which may be particularly relevant to current work loads. Five seminars are held annually which aim to deal with pertinent legal issues affecting social housing landlords. SHLA also organises an annual conference which aims to provide plenary addresses on key issues and a choice of break-out sessions on a variety of housing law and practice topics.

SHLA's ninth annual conference aims to provide up to date information, discussion and practical guidance on topical issues facing housing associations, local authorities, ALMOs and their lawyers. We are pleased to announce that this year Sellick Partnership Legal will be an official sponsor of the annual conference. The conference will take place in London on Friday 17th October, 2014. There will be several speakers dealing with a range of topical issues. This years topics include Anti-Social Behaviour, Housing & Tenancy Fraud, Capacity and Case Law Updates.

It is a great opportunity for us to mix with our clients in a more relaxed environment. As an agency we are acutely aware that supporting and sponsoring such events is a representation of our commitment to our chosen specialist markets.
