The War for Talented Conveyancers…

A return in confidence in the property market has not only left us with a shortage of desirable properties, with buyers fighting to secure their perfect has also left private practice law firms struggling to secure talented and experienced residential conveyancers to deal with the increase in instructions.

Here at Sellick Partnership Legal, we have noticed an unprecedented demand for residential conveyancing solicitors, legal executives and licensed conveyancers throughout the country who have gained a minimum of 2 years fee earning experience in residential property.

As you would expect, any increase in instruction eventually leads to fewer talented and experienced candidates being available to commence roles, as noted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) who have observed that the supply of permanent candidates has fallen for the 11th month running.

So what approach are firms doing to combat the current shortage in experienced residential conveyancing fee earners? Most firms that I speak to have been quite proactive in terms of their approach.

Refreshingly, the majority of them have reviewed salary structures and bonuses for their existing property fee earners and are offering excellent salaries and packages to new starters both to attract and retain talent into their teams. With so much choice in terms of permanent opportunities available, candidates can afford to be much more selective in terms of their next career move.
