What is your previous experience and/or education?
I graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a 2.1 BA (Hons) degree in Psychology. I always had a desire to work in recruitment which stemmed from completing various temporary reception and administration roles through a recruitment agency whilst studying. I then moved to Australia and worked in the insurance industry as a personal assistant.
Once I was back in the UK I began working at Sellick Partnership as a Resourcing Consultant where my duties included writing and posting adverts, sourcing, vetting and interviewing candidates and setting up candidates on our payroll system. Also, I exhibited at conferences to network with clients and candidates which is where my interest in the Marketing and Events team peaked. My initial interest in the Marketing and Events function materialised due to the strong and unrivalled media presence that Sellick Partnership had built, along with a unique marketing mix and our recently launched new, innovative website. An opportunity then arose to work within the Marketing and Events team which I am now responsible for facilitating internal and external events, whilst supporting the Marketing team.
What is your area of expertise/specialism?
Having previously worked as a Resourcing Consultant I have in-depth knowledge of the recruitment industry which has provided me with great insight when supporting the sales team and has enabled me to have a more holistic view of recruitment.
I facilitate internal events such as our annual Teambuilding event, our End of Financial Year Awards and our Christmas party, and I assist with trade events that are mainly finance and legal focused. Additionally I help promote our sporting initiatives at Sellick Partnership including our annual Manchester Professionals’ Football League (MPFL) and our annual Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League (MPCL).
What skills do you feel you have that will help you succeed at Sellick Partnership and why?
In order to work in marketing and events you have to be extremely organised and have the ability to multi-task. My previous role as a Resourcing Consultant was very fast-paced which enabled me to deal with the pressures of meeting deadlines for events. I think my previous experience has built on my interpersonal skills which is essential when you are dealing with all levels of stakeholders in the business.
What attracted you to your role at Sellick Partnership?
I was initially attracted to Sellick Partnership as I admire how much they invest in their employees. They had attained top 100 Best Work Places in the UK by The Great Places to Work ® UK Institute when I joined in 2015 and were listed in the London Stock Exchange’s ‘Top 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ the following year.
What is an interesting/fun fact about yourself?
I used to run cross country for Lincolnshire.
