Overview

Birmingham City University is a large and diverse university set in the heart of Birmingham. With over 30,000 students from more than 100 countries they have a strong focus on practice-based learning.

Following successful formal tender, Sellick Partnership were appointed as preferred suppliers to Birmingham City University during summer 2020 for permanent and temporary recruitment across Finance & Accountancy. 

Implementation

We assigned an Account Manager internally, Adam Rouse, Senior Business Manager, specialising in public sector corporate services in the Midlands. Adam has over 10 years’ experience and has built a wide network of candidates within his specialist sector, supported by his in-depth understanding of the challenges and niches within his specialism, and the skills and expertise to assess vacancies and candidates to ensure a credible match. 

Adam was responsible for leading the contract implementation with Birmingham City University following the tender win. Once all contractual terms were signed Adam arranged an implementation meeting remotely due to covid restrictions with key stakeholders at BCU. We have a standardised process for implementing PSLs which considers key actions, assigned responsibilities and target timescales. 

Delivery of the service

Adam has successfully managed needs across both temporary and permanent assignments, with the support of the account management team. 

Operational processes include:

  • Gathering a detailed understanding of each requirement through job briefing call/meetings to supplement job descriptions and person specifications.
  • Designing a bespoke attraction campaigns across both our established candidate databases and generating new talent through headhunting and referrals. 
  • Conducting selection processes to align the candidates to both the vacancy and to BCU.
  • Working with hiring managers to arrange interviews and take/give feedback. 
  • Supporting with on-boarding and contract management post placement.
