Overview

Rykneld Homes was set up in 2007 as a non-profit organisation, responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of around 7,600 properties and neighbourhoods on behalf of North East Derbyshire District Council.

Sellick Partnership has worked with Rykneld Homes providing recruitment support across permanent contracts for the last three years. Placing on average six permanent positions each year, we have supported with the recruitment of many housing and property jobs including (but not limited to): Allocations Officers, Capital Work Supervisor, Caretaker, Electricians, Empty Homes Finishers, Plasterers, Surveyors, and Voids Supervisor.

Account Manager

Josh Meek, Manager, is the recruitment partner for Rykneld Homes. Josh specialises in Housing & Property Services recruitment across the East Midlands and has a well developed network of candidates within the local area.  

Our approach

Recruitment is managed in partnership with the HR Manager, and Josh meets with them quarterly to share market insight and to discuss key requirements, forecasted pipeline and critical projects. 

For some of the vacancies, one of the key challenges was competition from the private sector for candidates with the required qualifications and skills. Josh drew on his understanding of Rykneld Homes, their culture, positive staff retention, work life balance and benefits to promote their opportunities to candidates over and above private sector roles.

In particular, the Surveyor roles were challenging positions to fill, with limited candidate pools available. To fill these important positions, Josh undertook extensive headhunting and market mapping to proactively approach candidates with the required skills and qualifications and engage them with Rykneld Homes’ opportunities. 

We are pleased to have a 100% retention rate to date with each placement made.
