The client is looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to join their Indirect Tax team in Newcastle. The purpose of this role is to support and deliver tax advice for their clients across the UK. Assistant Tax Manager Sellick Partnership recruiting for an Assistant Manager - Expat Tax to cover a specific region. You will be supporting the Expat Tax Manager in delivery of their regional responsibilities in the Employment Tax team. This support will include the research and provision of tax advice to the business as well as our internal stakeholders The role will be responsible for management of queries raised by the international employee population, escalating as required. The Assistant Manager - Expat Tax will be the primary point of contact for our employees. This role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance requirements are met; both in terms of primary and secondary payrolls and home and host tax returns. This will require close working with professional advisers and internal Payroll teams as well as data gathering and analysis. Regular interaction with the Expat Tax Manager in terms of escalation and progress updates. External Reporting Accountant The External Reporting Team is the engine behind the quality and timely preparation of the Local GAAP financial statements and corporate income tax reporting for Western Europe. This includes Local GAAP tax accounting and preparation of Direct Tax Computations and Returns. One of the key areas the External Reporting (ER) Accountant is being asked to work is on the UK legal entities, with preparation of the detailed fixed assets and capital items expensed analysis for capital allowances in the Tax returns. Following this, the accountant will be involved in the preparation of the tax computations and returns that are filed externally with the UK Tax Authorities. The ER Accountant may also be asked to get involved in the preparation of Local GAAP tax accounting and other adhoc external reporting analysis / processes. As an External Reporting Accountant working on Tax related analysis and reporting, you will also be required to communicate well and provide a good level of customer service, as you will be one of the main points of contact for both the FSS Tax Manager and the Country Tax Manager. Skills required for the role include: * Fixed assets and capital accounting knowledge. * Strong communication skills both written and verbal. * Knowledge of SAP and strong excel skills. * Strong operational discipline to meet tight external reporting deadlines. * Good accounting knowledge, which they can apply to complex accounting scenarios. * The agility to be able to work with different managers and multiple countries / pieces of work to meet specific reporting deadlines. Description of the role Looking for an Accountant with specialist VAT knowledge and skills Support the preparation of VAT returns to appropriate deadlines. Investigate and address any queries arising from the VAT returns. Make VAT payments. Investigate new VAT registrations and VAT on new products as required. Review VAT on show set ups. Answer business and customer queries about VAT. Liaise with Tax Back International about VAT reclaims on expenses. Prepare monthly reconciliations of allocated bank accounts, investigating and clearing reconciling items promptly Reconciling other allocated balance sheet accounts. Produce analysis for Tax Computations for all group companies Provide cover for other members of the Financial Accounts team. Acknowledge Self Assessment tax queries from the client and assist with these where possible.
