How did you become interested in recruitment?

I joined Sellick Partnership as a Business Administration Apprentice in 2017! Watching and helping my colleagues over the years made me gain a real interest in their roles and I was able to sit back and watch how everything works. I’m a visual learner so I feel like this really helped when I was promoted.

What was it about Sellick Partnership that convinced you to take a role here?

The Great Places to Work accreditation really stood out to me. I knew that I would be joining a company that value and appreciate their staff for the hard work they do.

What are the best things about your role?

I love the buzz I get when candidates express their gratitude for helping them secure an assignment. It’s great to know that there’s been a huge shift with locum workers, and that people can now see that they can have a career as well as a good work-life balance.

What is the most challenging part of working in recruitment?

It’s quite disheartening what you put a lot of work into an assignment and the client takes too long to come back. The locum market is so fast paced and candidates tend to accept the first assignment offered to them! It means that sometimes you lose out to a competitor.

What support and training have you been given?

I have been inundated with training and support from Katie Beverley. She has always pushed me outside my comfort zone, encouraging me to be the best version of myself. I have also received fantastic training sessions provided by Ray Wareing! Training doesn’t stop after the first year, there are always things to learn in the world of recruitment and I’m hugely grateful for all the support Sellick Partnership offers.

Do you remember placing your first candidate and how did that feel?

I placed my first candidate with a client who had just received a last minute cancellation with another candidate from a different agency. I was able to fill the position the same day with the candidate starting the following week. This made me feel so great, knowing I could help a client at such short notice! They only use me now for their locum needs.

What’s your biggest achievement to date in your role as a Recruitment Consultant?

My 23k month was a big one! It made me realise the potential there is to earn a lot of money at Sellick Partnership due to the uncapped commission structure.

Outside of your job, what else do you enjoy about Sellick Partnership?

I have been at Sellick Partnership for more than a quarter of my life. My colleagues are literally life long friends, they have supported me with difficulties I have faced outside of work as well as inside. We love going out for meals and drinks together and try to do this as often as possible.
