How did you become interested in recruitment?

I wanted to try it out as I felt I had a lot of transferrable skills from previous roles, and wanted more sociable hours.

What was it about Sellick Partnership that convinced you to take a role here?

It was definitely the culture and benefits, the fact that employees are at the forefront of everyone's minds – wellbeing and inclusivity are a top priority, this really speaks volumes to me from personal experiences.

What is the most challenging part of working in recruitment?

We are in a challenging time right now with the cost of living crisis, and there are more and more recruitment freezes. On top of that, budgets are tighter than before so it's challenging at the moment but still exciting and interesting to be a part of.

What support and training have you been given?

I have completed all module training which has been extremely helpful, especially learning how to apply this to being a Recruitment Consultant. Switching from a Resourcing Consultant to a Recruitment Consultant is a big jump but one that I would recommend anyone to do as it really gives you a chance to learn your market - the Sellick Partnership. We are constantly supported by our Line Managers and Directors with how to handle different situations. Each month the teams have a review with their Line Manager, this is a really essential time for as we don't just talk about how our previous month has been but also chat about wellbeing and mental health.

Do you remember placing your first candidate and how did that feel?

Yes, I was so proud of myself, and knew I could actually do this.

What’s your biggest achievement to date in your role as a Recruitment Consultant?

Recently leading on 3 pieces of permanent recruitment for an important client, and placing all candidates within 3 weeks. I thrive from placing candidates with suitable clients and vice versa, and do a little dance when I get a placement.
