Care Lawyer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Care Lawyer (Solicitor or CILEX) to join a well-established and highly regarded legal practice with a strong reputation in family and childcare law.

This is an ideal role for an experienced childcare lawyer looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and collaborative team, handling a rewarding caseload of public law children matters while benefiting from genuine progression opportunities.

The Opportunity

You'll play a key role within a busy Child Care department, representing parents and other vulnerable clients in care proceedings, while working closely with experienced colleagues on a range of complex and sensitive matters.

Your workload is likely to include:

• Managing your own caseload of Care Proceedings matters
• Advising and representing clients at PLO meetings
• Conducting advocacy at Court hearings where appropriate
• Supporting vulnerable clients through often challenging circumstances
• Preparing and managing Legal Aid applications through CCMS
• Drafting applications, statements and other legal documentation
• Liaising with Local Authorities, Guardians, Counsel and external agencies
• Ensuring excellent client care and regular communication throughout matters
• Managing competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work
• Contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment

You'll be joining a respected team known for its expertise in childcare law, offering excellent support, ongoing development and clear long-term career prospects.

About You

• Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer
• Ideally 5+ years' PQE, although candidates with strong relevant experience will be considered
• Experience acting for parents within Care Proceedings
• Strong knowledge of Public Law Children work and PLO processes
• Experience using CCMS and working within Legal Aid requirements
• Interest in advocacy and attending Court regularly
• Children Panel membership would be advantageous, but is not essential
• Passionate about supporting vulnerable clients
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Organised, proactive and able to manage a busy caseload independently
• Team-focused approach and strong IT skills
• Experience with LEAP would be beneficial but not essential
• Able to attend the office and local Courts as required
