Overview of the Clinical Negligence Solicitor role

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be working with a leading regional law firm as they look to appoint a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join their highly regarded Clinical Negligence team based in Leicester.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Newly Qualified Solicitor (having completed a Clinical Negligence seat) or a solicitor with up to three years' post-qualification experience to join a Legal 500 recognised team. The successful candidate will inherit an initial caseload while developing their own claimant clinical negligence practice, handling a broad range of high-quality and predominantly multi-track matters.

Working alongside experienced specialists, you will gain exposure to complex and sensitive cases, providing support to clients and their families while benefiting from excellent mentoring, career development and long-term progression within a collaborative and supportive team.

Key responsibilities of the Clinical Negligence Solicitor will include

  • Managing a claimant clinical negligence caseload from inception through to settlement or trial.

  • Assessing liability, quantum and prospects of success.

  • Instructing medical experts and Counsel where appropriate.

  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and instructions to experts and Counsel.

  • Attending conferences, mediations and settlement meetings.

  • Providing clear, practical and empathetic advice to clients throughout the claims process.

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Supporting business development initiatives through networking and marketing activities.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the continued success of the team.

Required experience of the Clinical Negligence Solicitor position will include

  • Qualified Solicitor with a Clinical Negligence training seat or up to three years' PQE in claimant Clinical Negligence.

  • Experience managing, or assisting with, claimant clinical negligence matters.

  • Excellent communication and client care skills with a compassionate approach.

  • Strong drafting, organisational and IT skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.

  • A proactive, positive attitude with the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy environment.

  • An interest in business development and building professional relationships.
