Sellick Partnership is partnered with a leading Tier 1 construction group to recruit a Commercial Legal Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established business in a pivotal role, taking ownership of legal and contractual processes and making a real impact across multiple projects.

Commercial Legal Lead Role Overview:

The Commercial Legal Lead will act as the central point of contact for all legal and contractual matters across the business. You will oversee and manage requirements relating to bonds, parent company guarantees (PCGs), collateral warranties, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), property transactions and wider legal issues.

Working closely with bid and delivery teams, you will ensure contracts are commercially sound, risks are effectively managed, and processes are robust. You will also liaise with external solicitors and advisors where specialist support is required.

This role is well suited to someone with a strong commercial or legal background in contracts, ideally within the construction sector, who is looking to take ownership and drive best practice.

Commercial Legal Lead Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for all internal legal and contractual matters
  • Review, draft and advise on contracts including bonds, PCGs, collateral warranties and NDAs
  • Ensure contractual terms are commercially sound and minimise risk to the business
  • Support bid and delivery teams during tender and project stages
  • Liaise with external solicitors, brokers and parent company representatives as required
  • Coordinate the acquisition and management of bonds and guarantees
  • Maintain accurate records of all legal agreements and obligations
  • Monitor contractual commitments to ensure compliance
  • Provide legal support on property and land transactions, including licences and agreements
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure agreements meet business and project needs
  • Act as a trusted advisor on contractual and legal issues
  • Support insurance-related matters and claims where required
  • Identify and communicate legal and commercial risks to stakeholders
  • Develop and improve internal legal and contract management processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Promote best practice in contract governance and compliance

Commercial Legal Lead Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of contract law and commercial agreements
  • Experience within the construction or infrastructure sector
  • Proven ability to review and manage complex contracts
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, confident and commercially minded approach
