Overview of the Corporate Partner role

We are currently working with a growing law firm looking to appoint an experienced Corporate Partner to lead transactions, develop its corporate practice and support colleagues across the wider firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious corporate lawyer to take on a senior position with genuine scope to influence the future direction of the practice. You will advise business owners, investors and their advisers on a range of corporate matters, leading transactions from instruction through to completion and providing clear, commercially focused advice.

Working collaboratively with the firm's real estate and dispute resolution teams, you will help deliver joined-up legal advice to clients whose matters span multiple practice areas.

The role offers flexibility around location and working arrangements, with opportunities available across the Midlands, Cardiff and Bristol, alongside hybrid and home-working options.

Key responsibilities of the Corporate Partner will include

  • Leading corporate transactions for business owners, investors and their advisers, from initial instruction through to completion.

  • Advising clients on commercial and legal risks, providing clear, practical and commercially focused guidance.

  • Supervising matters and supporting the quality, performance and development of the corporate team.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, referrers and other professional advisers.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across real estate and dispute resolution to provide integrated client advice.

  • Contributing to the strategic direction and continued growth of the corporate practice.

  • Supporting business development through existing relationships, networking and the development of new client and referrer connections.

Required experience and qualifications for the Corporate Partner position will include

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 8+ years' PQE.

  • Substantial experience leading corporate transactions for private business clients.

  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to manage transactions, teams and competing deadlines effectively.

  • Previous experience supervising and developing other lawyers.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with business owners, investors and professional advisers.

  • A collaborative and constructive approach to leadership, with a genuine interest in developing colleagues and contributing to the wider firm.

  • A demonstrable commitment to business development and practice growth. An existing client following would be advantageous but is not essential.

Benefits and career opportunities

This is a senior opportunity for a Corporate Partner who wants to play an active role in shaping and growing a corporate practice, leading high-quality transactions and developing lasting client and referrer relationships.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the practice while benefiting from a collaborative working environment and the support of colleagues across complementary legal disciplines.

Flexible working arrangements are available, including hybrid and home working, with location options across the Midlands, Cardiff and Bristol. A competitive package will be offered, reflecting the seniority and experience of the successful candidate.

The firm welcomes applications from candidates whose experience demonstrates an equivalent level of capability, even where their career path differs from the profile outlined above.
