Location: Hybrid Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

Duration: 4 months
Rate: £24.29 - £26.88 per hour (Umbrella) OR £18-£20 per hour (PAYE)
Hours: 37 Hours, Monday to Friday

Sellick Partnership is supporting a well respected Public Sector organisation to recruit to multiple Planning Officers to join their Planning & Environment Service on a hybrid basis

You will play a key role in delivering an effective, high‑quality development management service, managing a varied caseload and providing professional planning advice across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for both developing and experienced planners (Grade 5 & 6 level) to contribute to a busy, supportive team and help drive positive outcomes for local communities.

Key responsibilities of the Planning Officer:

  • Managing and determining a varied caseload of planning applications, ensuring decisions are issued within statutory timescales.
  • Providing professional advice to applicants, agents, developers, internal teams, and the public, including pre‑application guidance
  • Support and contribute to planning appeals, preparing evidence and attending hearings or inquiries where required
  • Interpret and apply local and national planning policy in decision‑making.
  • Liaise with developers, parish councils, residents and stakeholders, attending public meetings to explain planning issues
  • Prepare high‑quality reports, recommendations, and supporting documentation for delegated or committee decision-making
  • Support business plan goals, including income‑generating services such as paid pre‑application advice
  • Undertake health & safety-compliant site visits as part of assessing planning applications

The ideal Planning candidate will have:

  • Experience processing or advising on planning applications within a local authority or similar environment
  • A relevant planning‑related degree (essential)
  • Working towards RTPI membership (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for site visits)
