We are currently working with a leading Newcastle-based, Legal 500 ranked law firm that is looking to recruit an experienced Education Solicitor to join their nationally recognised Sports, Education & Charities team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven legal professional with a passion for the education sector to join a collaborative and highly regarded team, working with clients across the region and nationally.
Your responsibilities will include:
Advise a broad range of education clients, including schools, academies, multi-academy trusts, and further and higher education institutions.
Manage academy conversion projects, mergers, and re-brokerage matters from instruction through to completion.
Provide day-to-day legal advice on education law matters, including admissions, exclusions, safeguarding, SEND, and complaints.
Represent and advise clients in relation to SEND tribunals and other regulatory matters.
Support education clients through strategic projects, restructures, and collaborative arrangements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, delivering practical and commercially focused advice.
Work closely with colleagues across the wider Sports, Education & Charities team on complex and varied matters.
Actively contribute to business development initiatives and help strengthen the firm's presence within the education sector.
The successful candidate:
5 years' PQE+ with strong experience advising clients within the education sector.
Experience handling academy conversions, mergers, re-brokerage projects, or other governance matters.
Excellent working knowledge of education law, including SEND, safeguarding, admissions, exclusions, and complaints.
Strong client management and relationship-building skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
A collaborative team player who enjoys working in a busy and supportive environment.
Commercially minded, proactive, and confident taking ownership of client matters.
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
A genuine interest in business development and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
