Overview of the Associate Solicitor role

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be working with a leading regional law firm as they look to appoint an Associate Solicitor to join their highly regarded Employment team based in Leicester.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing Employment team advising businesses, not-for-profit organisations and senior individuals on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Partners and Associates, managing their own caseload while supporting on more complex matters and contributing to the continued growth of the team.

Key responsibilities of the Associate Solicitor will include

  • Advising employers and senior individuals on a broad range of employment law matters.

  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies and procedures.

  • Advising on disciplinary, grievance and capability matters.

  • Supporting redundancy and restructuring projects.

  • Managing TUPE transfers and associated employment issues.

  • Advising on settlement agreements.

  • Conducting Employment Tribunal litigation.

  • Advising on discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal claims.

  • Handling restrictive covenant and post-termination disputes.

  • Providing day-to-day HR and employment law support to employer clients.

  • Building strong relationships with clients and referrers.

  • Supporting business development through networking events, seminars and client presentations.

Required experience of the Associate Solicitor position will include

  • Qualified Solicitor with ideally 2-8 years' PQE in Employment Law

  • Strong experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment law.

  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.

  • Excellent client care and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working.

  • An interest in business development and networking.

  • Previous supervisory or presentation experience would be advantageous.
