Overview of the Family Solicitor role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Family Solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE to join an established and highly regarded legal team in Shrewsbury.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to handle high-quality, complex family work, including financial arrangements following relationship breakdown and disputes involving children. Much of the work involves high-value assets and sensitive circumstances, requiring a thoughtful, measured and client-focused approach.

You will work closely with experienced colleagues and partners, while having the autonomy to manage your own caseload and develop strong, long-term client relationships.

Key responsibilities of the Family Solicitor will include

  • Managing a varied caseload of family matters from instruction through to conclusion

  • Advising on divorce and separation

  • Handling complex financial settlements and property arrangements

  • Advising on children and childcare matters

  • Dealing with adoption and family mediation matters

  • Providing clear, practical and commercially aware advice to clients

  • Managing high-value and often sensitive cases

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Working collaboratively with partners and colleagues

  • Contributing to marketing and business development activities

Required experience/qualifications of the Family Solicitor position will include

  • At least 5 years' PQE in family law

  • Experience across divorce, financial matters and children work

  • Confidence managing complex matters independently from start to finish

  • Excellent client care and communication skills

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • A high level of attention to detail

  • A thoughtful and measured approach when dealing with sensitive matters

  • An interest in contributing to business development and marketing activities
