Local Government | 6 Months | Hybrid Working | £500 per day

Sellick Partnership is recruiting an experienced Interim Finance Manager to support a busy, high‑performing General Fund Housing service within a respected local authority. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic public‑sector finance professional to add real value during a critical period of change and financial pressure.

The Role

Working closely with the Head of Finance and senior housing leaders, the Interim Finance Manager will take the lead on all financial management activity across the General Fund Housing portfolio. You will provide robust technical and strategic support covering:

  • Budget setting, monitoring and forecasting
  • Monthly reporting, variance analysis and financial modelling
  • Oversight of temporary accommodation, homelessness, allocations and housing needs budgets
  • Supporting savings plans, service redesign and cost‑mitigation strategies
  • Preparing reports for senior leadership, committees and external stakeholders
  • Strengthening financial controls and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and local authority frameworks
  • Business partnering with operational housing teams to drive informed decision‑making
  • Supporting year‑end closure, working papers and audit engagement

About You

The successful candidate will be an adaptable and confident finance professional with:

  • Local government experience (essential)
  • Strong understanding of General Fund Housing, temporary accommodation pressures and demand‑led budgets
  • Excellent budget management, forecasting and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to senior leaders and non‑finance colleagues
  • A proactive, solution‑focused approach and the ability to operate at pace
  • CCAB/CIMA qualification (preferred but not essential for the right interim)

Why Apply?

  • High‑impact interim role for a motivated, hands‑on finance leader
  • Opportunity to influence service sustainability at a time of sector‑wide pressure
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements
  • Supportive, collaborative finance and housing teams.
