Handyperson

Location: County Durham
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 37 per week (Monday-Friday)
Salary: £26,435 per annum

The Handyperson Service provides practical support to residents across County Durham, including minor home adaptations, safety checks, advice and signposting. The service helps people, particularly those who are disabled, at risk of falls or otherwise vulnerable to maintain independence, health and wellbeing in their own homes.

As part of the team, you will help deliver these vital services. Your work will focus on installing adaptation equipment to help clients remain safe at home.

The responsibilities of the handyman will include:

  • Installing external handrails
  • Building concrete, flag or brick steps
  • Building and installing step‑kit units
  • Fitting banister rails, grab rails and key safes

The successful handyman will have:

  • Able to work independently and manage their time effectively
  • Excellent at communication and able to liaise confidently with Occupational Therapists and other health and social care professionals
  • Self-motivated, proactive and committed to delivering great service
  • Aware of and committed to safe working practices
