We are looking for an experienced locum legal secretary to provide ongoing cover for a friendly high-street firm in Brighton whilst they recruit for a permanent hire within their conveyancing department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised individual with strong administrative and communication skills to provide support in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive secretarial and administrative assistance to a conveyancing partner
  • Prepare, organise, and maintain conveyancing files from initial instruction through to post-completion
  • Produce legal documents and correspondence through audio typing
  • Communicate effectively with clients, estate agents, lenders, and solicitors
  • Respond to telephone calls and email enquiries in a professional manner
  • Carry out Land Registry searches and assist with application submissions under supervision
  • Coordinate diaries, schedule appointments, and manage both digital and physical filing systems
  • Support the team with post-completion tasks

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a conveyancing secretary role or within a residential property department
  • Strong typing proficiency and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Confident and professional communication abilities
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
