Planning Lawyer (Locum)
Fully Remote | £60+ per hour D.O.E | 3-6 Month Contract

Our Local Authority client is seeking an experienced Planning Lawyer to join its legal team on a locum basis for an initial 3-6 month assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied and interesting planning caseload within a supportive team environment, with strong paralegal support and no requirement to attend planning committee meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert legal advice on a broad range of planning matters
  • Drafting, negotiating and completing Section 106 Agreements
  • Advising on and drafting Section 278 Highways Agreements
  • Providing advice on Lawful Development Certificates
  • Managing planning enforcement matters
  • Handling a diverse caseload including:
    • Minerals and waste matters
    • Phosphate-related issues
    • Quarry developments
    • General planning and development work

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX)
  • Significant experience in local authority planning law
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating Section 106 Agreements
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment

Contract Details:

  • Initial 3-6 month contract
  • Fully remote working
  • Full-time preferred, although part-time applicants will be considered
  • Competitive rate of £60+ per hour (dependent on experience)
  • Strong paralegal support provided
  • No committee attendance required
