Step Into Leadership While Expanding Your Legal Expertise

This is not a standard paralegal role. It's a genuine opportunity for an experienced paralegal ready to take the next step into management and leadership, while continuing to build a diverse and engaging caseload.

The successful applicant will join a highly regarded Community Care and Litigation team, working with public sector and not-for-profit clients on a broad mix of complex and meaningful legal matters. Alongside your own caseload, you'll take on responsibility for leading and developing a team of paralegals, making this an ideal role for someone looking to transition into management.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality legal services across a varied workload, including:

  • Managing your own caseload across the areas of Education and Special Educational Needs
  • Supervising and leading a team of paralegals
  • Supporting lawyers on complex cases, including:
    • Drafting legal documents and correspondence
    • Conducting research and advising clients
    • Preparing applications and instructing experts
    • Attending meetings, courts, and tribunals where appropriate
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, delivering clear, practical legal advice
  • Contributing to training delivery for clients and colleagues
  • Supporting business development and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with Lexcel and practice management standards

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Clear progression into management - ideal for experienced paralegals ready to lead
  • Variety of work - no two days are the same across a broad legal portfolio
  • Flexible hybrid working - with only one office visit per month on average
  • Meaningful work - supporting public sector and not-for-profit organisations
  • Collaborative environment - work closely with experienced lawyers and leadership

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a legal practice
  • Strong understanding of litigation and/or local government legal frameworks
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Confidence in legal research, drafting, and client interaction
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

Desirable:

  • Experience in a local authority or public sector setting
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience
  • Advocacy experience
  • Legal qualification (e.g. Law degree or CILEX)
