Senior Associate - Employment (12-month FTC)

Birmingham | Hybrid working

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Senior Associate to join a highly regarded national Employment team on a 12-month fixed term contract, based in Birmingham.

The Team

You'll be joining a close-knit team of around 10 employment lawyers working collaboratively across London and Birmingham. The team has a strong national reputation and is known for delivering practical, commercial advice in plain English, backed by first-class technical expertise.

The Role

This is a varied and high quality role advising employer clients ranging from major corporates and public sector bodies to fast growth tech businesses. Work will include:

  • Strategic employment law advice aligned to clients' commercial objectives
  • Drafting employment documentation (service agreements, handbooks, consultancy and secondment agreements)
  • TUPE advice and support, including consultation processes
  • Redundancy and restructuring projects
  • Employment tribunal and civil court litigation (including discrimination and business protection disputes)
  • Corporate and transactional employment support
  • ER matters including grievances, whistleblowing, family-friendly issues, agency and working time matters
  • Trade union and industrial relations advice
  • Workplace investigations
  • Employment-related data protection matters (including DSARs)
  • Delivering client training and contributing to business development and profile-raising initiatives

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with experience in employment law
  • Strong technical grounding and commercial awareness
  • Experience managing client relationships and contributing to business development
  • Confident drafting and attention to detail
  • Collaborative, organised and able to work calmly under pressure
