Our local government client is seeking a specialist debt recovery solicitor to join their team. This role is to manage a full caseload of adult social care debt recovery files. Given the recent Mazur Ruling, candidates must hold a current practicing certificate and be a qualified lawyer.

The role will entail working solely on debt recovery matters relating to adult social care. Daily duties will include:

  • Providing detailed legal advice on matters related to disputes or financial issues. These matters are often complex and require a tailored approach. They typically involve trusts, wills, probate complications, property title issues, irregularities in financial assessments for care fees, and related early debt advice concerning family disputes that may later affect the funding of care.
  • Drafting pre-action letters and conducting negotiations
  • Preparing trial bundles and conducting complex legal research
  • Providing legal advice to the clients, specifically in relation to Deferred Payment Agreements related to adult social care fees
  • Responsible for case management including liaising with vulnerable debtors (or their representatives), client departments, service directors, and counsel

This role will suit an experienced debt recovery solicitor (or equivalent) with substantial experience dealing with complex adult care fee debts.
