Sellick Partnership actively supports the community through a number of sporting initiatives, including a cricket and a football league, two established football tournaments and a range of events throughout the UK. These events provide professionals with the chance to network and build relationships, all whilst enjoying the benefits of exercise!
The funds raised from our sporting events go to national and local charities such as St Ann’s Hospice, Lord’s Taverners, me&dee and If U Care Share all of which Sellick Partnership has worked with for a number of years and has built strong relationships with.
Established in 2008 by Managing Director Jo Sellick, the Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League (MPCL) has now become a frequent fixture in the social calendar of professionals based in the area, providing them with an informal and fun platform to network.
We have forged an excellent relationship with the Lord’s Taverners cricket charity, which aims to enhance the lives of children with disabilities to participate in the sport. Having raised in excess of £20,000 for the charity, Jo Sellick was elected to the Lord’s Taverners committee in 2012. All profits raised from the MPCL also go towards St Ann’s Hospice, another charity with whom Sellick Partnership has developed a strong bond with over the years.
Each year our cricket league closes with a Charity Awards Lunch – a delicious three course meal and awards ceremony which is held at the fabulous Lowry Hotel each year. This exciting event provides the opportunity for us to raise as much money as possible for the MPCL chosen charities: Lord’s Taverners and St Ann’s Hospice.
Each year, this event sees over 250 delegates from a variety of different companies come together for a day of networking and the chance to relax with their team, colleagues and other businesses from across Greater Manchester. We officially present the trophies to the winning teams, run a charity auction, and hear from some fantastic guest speakers. In the past we have heard from people such as Matthew Hoggard MBE, Bill Beaumont CBE, Geoff Miller OBE, David 'Bumble' Lloyd and Paul Allott.
The Manchester Professionals’ Football League (MPFL) is a five-a-side tournament that Sellick Partnership have been proud to facilitate since 2010, initially founded by Group Director, Ray Wareing.
With a variety of different teams taking part each year from organisations across the city, the MPFL’s aim is to bring professionals together to network and socialise in a fun, active and competitive setting. All profits raised from the league are donated to St Ann’s Hospice, Greater Manchester’s largest hospice caring for over 3,000 patients and their affected family members.
In addition to our two ongoing leagues, we also arrange an annual one-day football tournament for professionals based in the Midlands with all profits going to me&dee - an award-winning Midlands charity who organise holidays and trips away for individuals with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
Over the years, the Midlands Charity Football Tournament has gone from strength-to-strength, hosting a variety of teams year-on-year, and we would love for you to be involved in our next event. Teams are invited to join with all profits being donated to me&dee. The afternoon includes a buffet, a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses and an awards ceremony with prizes for the winning teams.
As well as the Midlands tournament, we also arrange an annual one-day Newcastle Charity Football Tournament for professionals based in the North East with all profits going to If U Care Share. The charity reach out to some of the most vulnerable people in society to support them in their time of need by providing a range of services fundamental to their three main aims of prevention, intervention and supporting those bereaved by suicide.
Since establishing this tournament in 2019, the Newcastle Charity Football Tournament has gone from strength-to-strength, hosting a variety of teams across the years, and we would love for you to be involved in our next event.
In 2023 we hosted our very first Manchester Professional's Tennis Tournament in aid of Cancer Research UK for professionals based in Greater Manchester, where we were delighted to raise £1,000.
Similar to our other sporting tournaments, we are planning to add this to our calendar for future years, starting with our 2024 tournament, and we would love for you to be involved in our next event.
