I joined Sellick Partnership earlier this year to enhance our offering to the accountancy practice market. Prior to joining Sellick Partnership, I worked as a headhunter placing actuaries with consulting practices, insurers and reinsurers.
I thought I'd use my first blogging opportunity to give readers a snippet of what this interesting market is looking like at present.
The type of work finance professionals undertake in the practice market is diverse, cutting edge and technically challenging. We work with a wide range of clients from Big 4 to local boutique practices. We place skilled professionals in areas such as; audit, tax, transaction services, corporate finance, financial crime, and fraud.
At the moment the practice market is extremely buoyant, as key players look to strengthen their teams at all levels. This is great news for candidates as there is a good selection of different opportunities for them to investigate.
However, this also means that clients are very often competing for the same candidate, as they look to secure their services.
We are also noticing an increasing trend of people choosing to remain within the practice market upon qualification. It appears that people are starting to view practice with a more long-term view, versus the old cliché of getting qualified and getting out.
Feedback indicates that recently qualified accountants are choosing to remain in practice for the variety, challenge, greater earning potential and faster career progression.
