Commercial Contracts Associate (2+ PQE)
Location: Manchester
The Role
We are working with a highly respected national law firm to recruit a Commercial Contracts Associate (2+ PQE) for its expanding Commercial team. This role offers exposure to high-quality work across a range of sectors, with genuine responsibility, client contact, and strong career progression.
About the Team
The Commercial team advises a diverse portfolio of clients, including major corporates, technology providers, financial services institutions, and public sector bodies. The team specialises in high-value commercial contracting work, including:
Outsourcing agreements
Technology and IT contracts
SaaS, cloud, and managed services arrangements
Software licensing and development agreements
Data protection, digital, and IP-related matters
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
* Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial and technology agreements
* Handle both supplier and customer-side contracts across key sectors
* Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice based on client objectives
* Collaborate with colleagues across commercial, corporate, data, and regulatory teams
* Build strong client relationships and contribute to business development
* Support and mentor junior colleagues as needed
* Engage with formal training and development opportunities to support your progression
What We're Looking For
* 2+ years' PQE with experience in commercial contracts, technology, outsourcing, or IT-related work
* Strong drafting and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage your own matters and support larger transactions
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills
* Commercial awareness with a practical approach to risk and problem-solving
* Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
* A collaborative mindset and interest in mentoring junior lawyers
