Overview of the Employment Solicitor role

A leading top 50 national law firm is seeking an ambitious Employment Solicitor (NQ - 5 Years PQE) to join its highly regarded Employment team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside recognised specialists, advising a diverse client base ranging from SMEs to large national and international organisations across a broad spectrum of employment law matters.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and supportive team, handling a varied caseload of both contentious and non-contentious employment matters while benefiting from excellent training, development opportunities, and clear progression pathways.

Key responsibilities of the Employment Solicitor will include:

  • Advising employers on a wide range of employment law issues including disciplinary matters, grievances, performance management, redundancies and restructures
  • Managing Employment Tribunal claims from inception through to conclusion
  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, service agreements, policies and procedures
  • Advising clients on TUPE transfers, business reorganisations and corporate support matters
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex employment disputes and strategic advisory work
  • Delivering practical and commercial employment law advice tailored to clients' business needs
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives

Required experience/qualifications of the Employment Solicitor position will include:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with between NQ and 5 years PQE
  • Previous employment law experience gained within a reputable law firm
  • Experience advising employer clients on a range of employment matters
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team environment
  • Commercially minded with a proactive approach to problem solving
