Overview of the Employment Solicitor role

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded law firm seeking an Employment Solicitor to join its specialist employment team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, advising a diverse client base while developing your career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will manage Employment Tribunal matters from start to finish, provide commercial employment advice to clients, and support corporate transactions on employment-related issues.

Key responsibilities of the Employment Solicitor will include

  • Managing Employment Tribunal claims from initial instructions through to final hearings

  • Preparing and drafting Employment Tribunal documentation, including Claims, Responses, Lists of Issues, Witness Statements, Skeleton Arguments and settlement approval applications

  • Representing clients at Case Management and Preliminary Hearings

  • Drafting correspondence with Employment Tribunals, ACAS, clients and opposing solicitors

  • Advising clients on employment contracts, workplace policies, disciplinary and grievance procedures, redundancy processes and family-friendly rights

  • Supporting corporate transactions by providing TUPE advice, undertaking employment due diligence and reviewing indemnities

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through practical, commercially focused advice

Required experience of the Employment Solicitor position will include

  • Qualified Solicitor with experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment law

  • Strong technical knowledge of employment legislation and Employment Tribunal procedure

  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines

  • Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to client advice

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Up-to-date knowledge of legal developments, case law and employment legislation
