Overview of the Junior Family Solicitor role

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Family Solicitor to join a well-established and highly regarded Family Law team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified solicitor or a solicitor with up to 3 years' PQE to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers, advising clients on a broad range of family law matters. The role offers exposure to high-quality work, excellent supervision, and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Key responsibilities of the Junior Family Solicitor will include:

  • Managing a caseload of family law matters with appropriate supervision

  • Advising clients on divorce, separation, financial remedy and private children matters

  • Assisting senior solicitors and partners on complex and high-value cases

  • Drafting legal documents, court applications and correspondence

  • Attending client meetings, court hearings and mediation appointments where appropriate

  • Providing practical and commercially focused advice to clients

  • Maintaining strong client relationships and delivering exceptional client care

  • Supporting business development and networking initiatives

Required experience/qualifications of the Junior Family Solicitor position will include:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with 0-3 years' PQE

  • Previous experience gained within a Family Law department during training or post-qualification

  • Strong knowledge of family law procedures and legislation

  • Excellent communication and client care skills

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities

  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines

  • A proactive and professional approach to client service

  • Membership of Resolution would be advantageous but is not essential
