Sellick Partnership are excited to be working with a well-respected local authority in the North West to find a Locum Democratic Services Officer to join their team to cover a period of absence within the team.

The successful Democratic Services Officer will be able to work remotely from home with attendance of meetings in person. The contract will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with the possibility of being extended further.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of managing meetings and decision-making in a similar organisation, who can work as part of a small team to undertake all activities related to a Council's democratic and committee service.

As a Committee Services Officer your role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Providing advice and support to Members, officers, stakeholders and residents around committees, processes and decision making
  • Responsibility to ensure that all decisions made at committees are taken in accordance with legal and constitutional requirements
  • Managing and supporting all aspects of the Member and Officer decision making having regard to local procedures, Council policy and best practice
  • Leading on all aspects of Cabinet, Council and Committee meetings including preparing reports and agenda publication, attending meetings to take minutes of the formal proceedings, and advising on constitutional requirements
