We are seeking a Managing Associate with strong expertise in planning and infrastructure consenting to join a high-performing national team. This role offers the chance to work on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, energy, and development projects-providing strategic advisory support and shaping the future of major national schemes.

About the Team

  • Advises on major national infrastructure, energy, transportation, utilities, and large-scale regeneration projects.

  • Specialises in planning, environmental law, consenting, land assembly, compulsory purchase, and public law.

  • Works collaboratively alongside real estate, regulatory, finance, corporate, and disputes specialists.

  • Acts for a variety of public and private sector clients, including developers, promoters, local authorities, and institutional investors.

What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
* Lead on major infrastructure consenting matters, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Transport & Works Act Orders, and planning applications
* Provide strategic advice on planning policy, compulsory purchase, land assembly, environmental impact assessments, and stakeholder consultation
* Support and advise on public inquiries, hearings, and examinations
* Draft, review and negotiate planning, environmental and land-related legal documentation
* Work closely with clients to provide commercially focused, practical solutions
* Develop strong, long-term client relationships and support business development initiatives
* Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative and positive team culture
* Engage in training, knowledge development and broader practice growth activities

What We're Looking For
You will ideally bring:
* 4+ years' PQE with experience in planning, infrastructure consenting, environmental law, or compulsory purchase
* Experience working on nationally significant infrastructure projects or large-scale developments
* Strong knowledge of planning processes, DCOs, land assembly, and environmental considerations
* Excellent drafting, advisory and stakeholder management skills
* Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset
* The ability to manage complex matters and lead multi-disciplinary teams
* A collaborative approach, with the ability to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to wider team development
