If you had told me back in 2002, the year I founded Sellick Partnership, that we’d be listed in the London Stock Exchange's ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report, I would have found it hard to believe you!
As any small to medium enterprise (SME) would attest, there have been ups and downs since the establishment of the company, and I’m really pleased to say this week has definitely been an ‘up’ with the achievement of two major accolades – the Investors in People Silver Award, a ‘best-practice’ framework for companies, and a place in the London Stock Exchange’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report.
This is a huge achievement for both me personally, and the business as a whole. Any recognition and acknowledgment helps validate that the way we're investing in our people is right, and ensures we offer best and outstanding service to clients and candidates. In addition, awards like this help promote recruitment as a profession, and show that we are committed to improving standards and in the industry.
Prior to setting up Sellick Partnership I had worked for a number of other recruitment companies and had always felt that more could be more done to simply make employees feel valued and appreciated. The success of Sellick Partnership lies solely on the people that we employ, so for me, it's about creating an environment that individuals thrive in and are able to work to the best of their ability.
With only 16% of UK employers accredited with Investors in People, I’m delighted to be associated with other companies dedicated to ‘putting people first’ – whether this is their clients, customers or their employees.
I’ve always been hugely proud to be a part of the UK’s SME community - we are the driving force behind the UK economy, developing the skills, jobs and growth that the country needs. To be included in The London Stock Exchange’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report for the second time is a huge honour, and has really set the bar high! The report looks at the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) in UK. To be selected, each business had to demonstrate not only positive growth in revenue over the last four years, but also significantly outperform their sector peers.
As a business we’re committed to continuous improvement and plan to build on our achievements to date, which also include a place in 2015's 100 Best Workplaces in the UK by ‘The Great Place to Work® Institute’, and achieving ISO 9001 accreditation – an indication of our commitment to quality assurance.
