This weekend sees the 61st annual Eurovision Song Contest with talent from across Europe gathering to perform what they believe is a winning song. The Eurovision Song Contest, which has been responsible for some legendary music icons such as Lulu, BucksFizz and Abba, has long been held in high regard throughout Europe. In recent years however, the Contest has been riddled in controversy regarding “political voting” but the competition remains as popular as ever. The theme for the contest this year is “Come Together”, offering those European countries taking part a chance to celebrate music, performance and culture. This theme of ‘togetherness” has been running throughout Eurovision over the past few years and for me, demonstrated how powerful a united front can be.
It reminds me of how the Sellick Partnership team consistently works together to maintain our position as market-leaders within the industry. Despite our team of 75 people working across seven offices including Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, the Midlands, East Midlands, London and of course our Head office in Manchester, we continue to work successfully together and strive to maintain a strong and supportive company culture.
At least three times a year, the Sellick Partnership offices come together to celebrate our successes and strengthen ties with colleagues. These events include our annual End of Financial Year Awards, our Teambuilding event and Christmas Party. Last week we held our End of Financial Year Awards at the prestigious Lowry Hotel in Manchester. The awards were an excellent opportunity for the seven offices to “Come Together”, celebrate the company’s achievements, recognise our people’s hard work as well as taking the time to look at the year ahead. The theme for the awards this year was “Growth and Enjoyment” which included looking at the organisation’s financial growth, headcount, developments in new markets and expansion in the business as a whole.
For me, the most important thing is being able to demonstrate a united front and without working in partnership with one another, growth within the business is just not possible. Similar to Eurovision, we constantly “come together” each day to help one another in offering clients and candidate an outstanding service and continually add value. What I love about Eurovision is that no matter what is going on with the individual countries, they still come together to have a good time. The same can be said for our offices; no matter what, we all get together to have an amazing time and it is that professional bond that allows us to grow.
It’s this professional relationship with one another that has created an exciting and dynamic working culture, allowing to be recognised as one of the top 100 Best Work Places in the UK by The Great Places to Work UK Institute® as well as achieving Investors in People Silver and being placed as once of the Top 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain by the London Stock Exchange.
