Hybrid - 2 days onsite and 3 days WFH

Sellick Partnership is partnering with a public sector organisation to recruit a Commercial Lead on a permanent basis.

The responsibilities of the Commercial and Procurement Lead will be:

  • Delivering strategic procurement activities including above-threshold procurements, frameworks, and quotations.
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement legislation, policies, and best practice.
  • Leading and developing a small team of 1 direct report, providing expert advice, coaching, and direction.
  • Acting as principal advisor on commercial, contractual, and procurement matters.
  • Managing and influencing key stakeholder relationships internally and externally to deliver value for money.
  • Driving change and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to organisational goals.
  • Representing the commercial team at regional and national forums when required.
  • Leading complex procurement projects in a highly regulated environment.

The ideal candidate for the Commercial and Procurement Lead will have:

  • MCIPS qualification (or be working towards) with substantial procurement and commercial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Public Contract Regulations, Procurement Act 2023, and Contract Law.
  • Recent experience in Public Sector organisations is essential.
  • Experience in IT Procurement would be desirable.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing teams effectively.
  • Experience in project management, ideally PRINCE2 or equivalent.
  • Ability to handle complex workloads with conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills within a political or regulated environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A customer-focused approach with the ability to deliver innovative procurement solutions.
