Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Head of Finance - Insurance (No1 role) for a reputable and instantly recognisable insurance business in Manchester. The business has outperformed their competitors over the past few years and will continue to do so by driving their strategic plan, delivering further improvements and changes that will make a real impact on the whole business.

Reporting into the Group FD, you will be responsible for all areas of finance and commercial performance. The role will be part of the senior leadership team, with an indirect reporting line to the Managing Director on a day-to-day basis.

You will have ownership of all the financial support to the business, including ownership and delivery of the integrated strategic planning cycle with periodic reforecast updates as required, including managing the reporting processes. You will be responsible for the ongoing monitoring of both financial and non-financial performance against the strategic plan to both the Executive and Board Committees as well as wider Group consolidated reporting and the annual statutory audit with responsibility for delivery to the Board for review and approval.

You will also be responsible for the development and ongoing management of the commercial performance framework, including all Board and Executive Committee level performance reporting, ensuring accurate, insightful and transparent reporting to the Board and Group stakeholders. The role holder will be accountable for commercial performance monitoring and reporting, including product & channel profitability, LTVs, investment paybacks and marketing effectiveness, and will be expected to ensure that senior stakeholders receive the required level of support and direction to facilitate the delivery of the long-term strategic goals of the business.

The role holder will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the Group Finance strategy and play an integral part in the leadership team of the wider function.

The successful applicant will be a fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with senior management experience coupled with strong strategic and financial planning experience gained within the financial services industry - ideally within a general insurance / brokerage business.

You will also have experience of managing ongoing strategic planning cycles, with demonstrable evidence of reporting to both Executive and Board level Committees. Therefore, you need to be able to formulate strategy and plans in line with wider organisational goals and to work with and influence Executive/Board level stakeholders.

You will be a strategic thinker with strong ability to influence at all levels so need to be able to demonstrate providing commercial support to key stakeholders to drive business performance and inform strategic planning, including financial analysis, wider key performance reporting and marketing effectiveness analysis.

Experience of Financial Conduct Authority regulatory requirements and management of key stakeholders with a regulated environment is desirable

You will be self-motivated with a proven track record of driving successful cross-functional teams, excellent planning and organisational skills, experience of working with all levels of colleagues and reporting to senior management and experience of managing a small team is desirable.
